At Combe Down RFC we have lots of girls and women participating in a variety of rugby activities.

Mini Rugby - up to Year 6

Girls - up to and including Year 6 (Under 11) - may, according to RFU regulations, play alongside boys in training and matches, and so, if you are an Under 11 girl, please check the Junior Rugby section here for training times, coach contact details.

Junior Girls - Year 7 onwards - Wednesdays, 6.30-8pm

Currently, we run one training session a week at Combe Down RFC for girls aged 12 upwards - from 6.30pm every Wednesday. Because we have a mixture of ages these are strictly non-contact sessions currently - focused on fitness, fun, rugby skills and an introduction to the basics of game-play. All ages are welcome to attend. We are keen to grow the group and - if we have enough girls in one particular age-group, that will allow us to extend the scope of the training sessions and potentially arrange fixtures against other Clubs.

Women's Rugby

We have exciting plans for Season 25/26 to launch a full Women's team at Combe Down RFC. If you would like to be involved, contact Sam Prescott on 07921 767 830.

Coaches, Team Managers

Have you thought about coaching girls/women's rugby? We would particularly like to recruit more women coaches to the cause. The Club will support you with attending RFU coaching courses and qualifications. Interested - give Giles White a call on 07775 686 919.

Summer Touch Rugby

From May-July, we run Tuesday evening, all-club, touch rugby + barbecue. Everyone is welcome at these sessions, where we run several games and so players can find the most appropriate group to join in with. Because it is non-contact girls and boys, adults and children can mix in together, and so everyone will be able to find a match that suits them. Parents are welcome to come along and enjoy our fantastic clubhouse and covered terrace, watch the matches, and socialise with other CDRFC members.

Ethos

We are proud to coach not only the principles of rugby but the power of teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership and loyalty. We are committed to making all training session and matches fun, inclusive to all, and to coaching the values of rugby and proving that rugby is the greatest team sport in the world!

In Junior girls rugby, local clubs tend to collaborate in order to field teams, and we have good relations with clubs such as Walcot RFC, Bradford-on-Avon RFC, Melksham RFC. We regard our role as to encourage girls and women into the game, and we will never stand in anyone's way if they decide they need to pursue their rugby interest at another Club in order to fulfil their potential.

With the Women's Rugby World Cup in England in September, 2025 and England's Red Roses the favourites to lift the trophy, we are anticipating more demand, and we are determined to make Combe Down RFC into Bath's premier community rugby club for girls' and women's rugby.

Annual Membership

Full Mini or Junior membership of Combe Down RFC is £90 (£60 for each additional sibling). However - we recognise that our Junior Girls are not currently playing matches and only training once a week, so we have set a separate membership fee of £30 per season to attend Wednesday evening training. This membership also includes social membership of Combe Down RFC for parents/guardians. It does not include playing or training kit, but this can be purchased from the Club kit shop here.
