Sad to hear that Dave Nesbitt passed away after a long illness
Nesser joined us having previously played for Bath Spartans and Oldfield Old Boys
He quickly fitted into the Combe Down style of play. As a club we seem to like ball playing no. 2's (0r Hookers as we used to call them !) A Large P Henson T Perkins and Robert Gay all fine players. Nesser certainly fitted that roaming role we needed!
For some reason he fancied himself as three quarters, my answer was Ness, we need you in the front row, everything starts from there. Of course over the years he did fill in at back row or centre and never let us down, even though we had to use the old miss one move more often than usual !
He was a valuable 1st xv squad member when we played in South West One and went on to Captain the 2xv in seasons 2000 & 2010 He also coached mini rugby at Bath and also Combe Down age groups from 2010 to 2015.
Yet again we've lost another valuable member who contributed both on and off the field.
Sincere condolences from all at Combe Down RFC
RIP Nesser
Wyn
