Sad to hear of the passing of Johnny Winterson who was one of the senior players in a very good young 2nd XV back in the mid 60's/70's. Full of future 1st XV players they only lost THREE  games in 2 years. Johnny was a strong robust hard running winger and encouraged many of the younger players to develop and stayed friends with them over the years
But his contributions off the pitch will be what he should be remembered for most. A skillful carpenter along with his partners Sid Prescott  & Ernie Clothier, they built our present clubhouse. Johnny was responsible for building the bar area before its recent renovation!
He built the changing rooms where the present kitchen now stands. He was also a long serving committee member over many years.
He continued to watch and support the club when his playing days were over and  enjoyed meeting up with fellow old players and reminiscing.
A nice kind man who  will be sadly missed by many!
Condolence to family from all at Combe Down R F C
